Privacy Policy

Who we are

https://turtlemaths.com, operated by Amit Raj trading as Turtle Maths. You can reach us at [email protected].

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through turtlemaths.com, why, and how it is handled, including for students, parents and guardians using our tutoring, booking and diagnostic assessment services.

What personal information do we collect?

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Name and email address, for the parent/guardian and, where provided, the student
  • Phone number, where provided for booking or contact purposes
  • Family account login details (a password, stored as a secure hash we cannot read)
  • Booking and lesson details: dates, times, programme, and package credit
  • Payment details processed by our payment provider, Stripe — we do not store your card details ourselves
  • Diagnostic assessment responses, scores and the resulting report, where a student completes the readiness assessment (see the dedicated section below)
  • Messages you send us through the contact form or by email

We collect this information when you create a family account, book a lesson, purchase a package, complete the diagnostic assessment, or contact us.

How do we use your personal information?

  • Provide and schedule tutoring lessons, and manage prepaid packages and credit
  • Process payments securely through Stripe
  • Send booking confirmations, lesson reminders and account-related emails
  • Score the diagnostic assessment and send the resulting report to the parent, and a fuller version to Mr Raj to prepare for the first lesson
  • Respond to your enquiries and requests
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations

We will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.

The diagnostic assessment

The readiness assessment is sent as a personalised, one-time link after a student’s first paid lesson is booked. A student’s answers, overall and per-topic scores, and the questions answered incorrectly are stored so a report can be generated. The parent receives a report covering the score, strengths, areas for support and worked solutions for incorrect answers. Mr Raj receives a fuller version of the same report, used to prepare for the first lesson, including teacher-only notes that are never shared with parents. Raw answers are not retained once the report has been generated, beyond what is needed to regenerate it if a resend is requested.

Cookies

We ask for your consent to cookies on your first visit, through the banner at the bottom of the page. “Necessary only” keeps the site to cookies required for it to function — signing in to your family account, keeping a booking session working, and remembering your cookie choice. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies; if that changes, this policy and the consent banner will be updated first.

When you log in to your family account, a login cookie is set so you stay signed in. If you select “Remember Me”, this persists for two weeks; otherwise it ends when you close your browser or sign out.

Embedded content and third-party services

Some pages embed content from other websites (for example, YouTube videos). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that website directly, and that provider may collect data about your interaction with it according to their own privacy policy.

We use the following third-party services to operate the site: Stripe (payment processing), and a secure email service to send booking confirmations, reminders and reports. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How do we protect your personal information?

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored as secure one-way hashes rather than plain text, and payment details are handled entirely by Stripe rather than passing through or being stored on our server. Access to family account data, bookings and assessment results is restricted to Mr Raj.

Who we share your data with

We restrict access to your personal information to Mr Raj and the third-party service providers listed above, who need it to provide payment processing, email delivery, or hosting for the site. We do not share your data with anyone else without your consent, unless required by law.

How long we retain your data

Family account, booking and package information is kept for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, and as required by applicable tax and accounting rules for payment records. A log of sent emails (confirmations, reminders and reports) is kept for 90 days to help us investigate delivery issues, then automatically deleted. Diagnostic assessment reports are kept to support the ongoing tutoring relationship; raw answers are not retained beyond what is needed to generate the report.

What rights you have over your data

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Request correction of your personal information
  • Request erasure of your personal information
  • Object to processing of your personal information
  • Request restriction of processing of your personal information
  • Request portability of your personal information

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

Where your data is sent

Payment data is sent to Stripe for processing. Booking confirmations, reminders and reports are sent through our email service provider. Both are bound by their own data protection obligations as our processors.

Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our information practices. We will post any updates on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice.
